Preparation steps

1.

For the dough: Dissolve yeast in milk and knead with flour, butter, sugar and salt to form a dough. Cover and let rest in a warm place for about 45 minutes.

2.

For the apple topping: Boil milk and butter, stir in flour and boil over low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir in poppy seeds, sugar and rum.

3.

For the quark topping: Beat yolks, butter, sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy. Stir in milk, quark, cornstarch, lemon zest, half the lemon juice and raisins.

4.

Put dough on a floured surface and knead well. Spread on a greased baking sheet and let rise a little.

5.

Meanwhile, peel, quart and core apples. Dice flesh and immediately sprinkle with remaining lemon juice.

6.

Spread poppy mixture and quark mixture onto dough. Drag a fork through the toppings to create a marble effect and top with apples. Press slightly and brush with melted butter.

7.

Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (approximately 350°F) for 45 minutes. Remove and coat with remaining butter. Dust with powdered sugar, slice and serve.
