Rinse lemon and cut into slices. Combine wine, cinnamon, sugar and lemon slices, bring to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally. Simmer until liquid has thickened slightly.

Rinse and peel pears, core from the bottom with a sharp knife carefully.

Remove cinnamon stick and lemon slices from wine mixture. Add pears to the pot and sprinkle with red wine. Simmer on low heat, covered, for 30 minutes.

Remove pears from the pan. Boil down wine sauce.
5.
Arrange lukewarm or cold pears on plates and drizzle with wine sauce. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve.
6.
If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream.
