Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Line the wells of a muffin tin with paper cupcake liners.

Beat butter and sugar until creamy and gradually stir in the eggs. Mix the flour with the baking powder, zest, and milk. Mix into the butter-egg mixture. Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin and bake in the oven for about 25 minutes, until a toothpick can be inserted and removed cleanly.

Meanwhile mix the powdered sugar with milk to form a thick glaze and add red food coloring until your desired shade of pink is reached.

4.

Remove the cupcakes from the oven, allow to cool, remove from the muffin tin. Decorate as desired with the icing and colored sprinkles and let dry.
