- For the herring
- 24 Herring (fillets)
- ¾ liter cold water
- ¾ liter Herb vinegar (5% acid)
- 3 tablespoons salt (without iodine)
- 6 tablespoons sugar (or less, if desired)
- 1 pinch Fish seasoning
- ground peppers
- 1 carrot (sliced)
- ½ Celery root (sliced)
- Additional Ingredients
- 1 onion
Boil together all of the ingredients for the herring. Allow to pickle for a minimum of 2 days.
When ready to serve, slice the onion into thin rings and mix into the pickled herring.
