Ingredients

For the herring
24 Herring (fillets)
¾ liter cold water
¾ liter Herb vinegar (5% acid)
3 tablespoons salt (without iodine)
6 tablespoons sugar (or less, if desired)
1 pinch Fish seasoning
ground peppers
1 carrot (sliced)
½ Celery root (sliced)
Additional Ingredients
1 onion

Preparation steps

1.

Boil together all of the ingredients for the herring. Allow to pickle for a minimum of 2 days.

2.

When ready to serve, slice the onion into thin rings and mix into the pickled herring.
