Pears in Red Wine
Rinse the lemon in hot water, slice and bring with the red wine, sugar, vanilla syrup and cinnamon stick to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Peel the pears and cut out the cores from the bottom with a sharp knife.
Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon slices from the wine and place the pears in a pot. Pour the wine over, cover and let simmer over low heat for 3-4 minutes. Then let cool in cooking liquid. Arrange in dishes with some of the wine mixture and serve immediately. (Tastes particularly good with vanilla ice cream and/ or whipped cream!)
