Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Grease 26 cm (approximately 10 inch) springform pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

Peel pears, halve, core and chop into small pieces. Mix pear with lemon juice. Mix butter with salt, syrup and sugar until frothy. Gradually add eggs and stir until creamy. In a separate bowl, mix with baking powder, almonds, cocoa and cardamom powder. Rapidly stir in milk to form a smooth, spreadable dough. Add pears and pour dough into the springform pan. Bake in oven for about 50 minutes. (Check to see if cake is cooked by sticking a toothpick into the cake. If toothpick comes out clean, it is cooked).

Remove from oven, let cool completely and dust with powdered sugar. Serve garnished with violets.
