For the cupcakes: heat the oven to 200°C (180° fan) 400°F gas 6. Place paper cases in a 12 hole muffin tin.
Mix the flour, baking powder and sugar in a mixing bowl.
In a small bowl mix the milk, oil and egg. Stir into the dry ingredients with the pecans. Stir until just combined. The mixture will be lumpy.
Spoon into the muffin tins and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and risen. Cool in the tins for 5 minutes then place on a wire rack to cool competely.
To decorate: gently warm the marmalade in a small pan until just melted. Spoon over the muffins and top with a pecan.
