Orange and Fig Tart
For the dough, combine the flour, sugar, salt, diced butter and egg and knead into a smooth dough. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 mintues in the refrigerator.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F).
For the fruit, peel the oranges and figs, and cut into slices. Melt the butter in a baking dish with the sugar. Remove from the heat and arrange the orange and fig slices in the pan evenly.
Roll out the dough and place in the pan over the fruit. Press the dough down firmly, and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Remove from the pan and cut into pieces to serve.
Garnish with fresh orange and fig slices.
