- 2 large onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 4 Tbsps olive oil
- 1 lg can Tomatoes 800 grams (approximately 28 ounces)
- 400 grams Ground meat
- 4 Tbsps breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsps freshly grated Parmesan
- 3 Tbsps mixed Italian Fresh herbs (finely chopped)
- 400 grams Fusilli
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- ground paprika
- chopped thyme (for garnish)
Preparation

Peel the onions and garlic, dice and sauté in 2 tablespoons hot oil. Remove half from the pan, then add the tomatoes with their liquid to the pan. Crush with a potato masher and simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes.

Mix the ground beef, remaining stewed onions and garlic, bread crumbs, egg, Parmesan and herbs. Knead together and season with salt and pepper. Using wet hands, shape into ping-pong ball sized balls. Fry in the remaining hot oil fry on all sides. Add the tomato sauce and cook for about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Season the tomato sauce with salt and pepper. Serve with the noodles, sprinkled with thyme.
