Ingredients

For the dough
500 grams Pastry flour
20 grams Yeast
280 grams milk
100 grams sugar
50 grams butter
1 pinch salt
For the filling
100 grams dried Fruit (mixed to taste, finely chopped)
200 grams Marzipan
1 lemon (zested and juiced)
½ teaspoon ground ginger
For the decoration
200 grams powdered sugar
1 egg white

Preparation steps

For the dough: Dissolve yeast in milk. Combine yeast milk with remaining dough ingredients and knead thoroughly. Cover and let rest in a warm place for 45 minutes.

Knead dough on a floured surface and cut in half. Roll each half into a thin strand and cut each into 12 portions. Shape each portion into a ball.

For the filling: Combine chopped fruit, marzipan, powdered ginger, lemon zest and juice and knead. Divide into 24 equal portions and shape into balls.

Flatten dough balls and press a filling ball into each. Seal dough around filling and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in and oven preheated to 180°C (approximately 350°F) for 15-18 minutes. Remove and let cool.

For the decoration: Combine powdered sugar and egg white. Color as desired and use to cover dough. Let set and serve.
