Preparation steps

Grease the pan with butter and dust with flour.

Beat the butter, sugar, salt and vanilla sugar until creamy. Gradually stir in the eggs. Mix the flour and baking powder. Alternately stir the flour mixture and 3 tablespoons of milk into the batter.

Pour 1/3 of the batter into another bowl. Mix the cocoa powder and remaining milk into the smaller portion of the batter. Pour the lighter batter into the pan and top with the darker batter. Use a fork to mix the batters, forming a marbled pattern. Bake for about 1 hour at 180°C (approximately 350°F), until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the pan and let cool on a wire rack.

Melt the chocolate over a hot water bath and spread over the cake. Decorate with chocolate-covered candies and serve.
