4 cups Granny Smith Apple (cored; peeled; and sliced 1/4 inch thin)
0.333 cup sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup sliced almonds
8 ounces plain semi-sweet chocolate (for chocolate curls)

Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 450º F.

Cream the butter, 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour until well combined. Flatten to a disc and press dough into the bottom and sides of a 9 inch springform pan. Chill in the refrigerator while you make the filling.

Combine the cream cheese and sugar; mix well using an electric mixer. Add the egg and vanilla; mix until very smooth. Set aside.

Toss the sliced apples with the cinnamon and remaining sugar. Arrange apples on top of crust. Sprinkle with almonds. Spread cream cheese filling evenly over apples. Bake for 10 minutes at 450º F, reduce heat to 400º F and bake for an additional 25 minutes.

Cool slightly before removing from pan, running a knife around the sides to loosen the cake if necessary. Cool completely before topping with chocolate curls. Serve
