Preparation steps

1.

Knead together flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, sliced butter, egg and ground hazelnuts into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to be about 0.6 cm (approximately 1/4 inch) thick and use a round cookie cutter to cut out cookies about 5 cm in diameter (approximately 2 inches). Cut a star shape out of the center of half of the cookies. Place all the cookies on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 12 minutes. Remove and let cool.

Warm the jelly and spread it onto the cookies that don't have stars cut out of them. Place the cookies with the stars cut out on top of the jellied cookies, press gently and let dry. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
