Peel and halve onions. Rinse rosemary and shake dry.

In a pan, combine 300 ml (approximately 1 1/4 cups) water with honey, lemon juice, and olive oil. Add onion, cloves and rosemary and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer over medium heat, about 15 minutes. Then remove the lid, stir, and cook 15 minutes more. Remove from heat and let onions cool in liquid. Let marinate 5 hours more.
