Honey Baked Crackers
Heat honey, syrup and butter over low heat until warm and butter has melted. Cool to room temperature. Mix flour with orange zest and cloves in a bowl. Stir in honey mixture. Dissolve potash in water and add to mixture. Knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let rest at room temperature for 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Grease a baking sheet with butter. Roll dough out on a floured work surface until about 1/2 cm (approximately 1/2 inch) thick. Cut out stars and hearts as desired. Place cutouts on baking sheet and bake on middle rack for about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and cool on a wire rack. Serve dusted with powdered sugar.
