- 8 Pickled herring (kitchen ready)
- 400 milliliters White vinegar
- 2 onions
- 100 grams dried Cranberry
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 cloves
- 3 allspice
- 1 pinch sugar
- 2 peppercorns
Preparation steps

Soak herring for 24 hours in cold water. Change water 2-3 times. Remove the herring, pat dry, and remove fillets from the skin. Then cut fillets into 5 cm (approximately 2-inch) wide pieces and place in a shallow dish.

Warm the vinegar with 400 ml (approximately 1 3/4 cups) of water in a pot.

Peel the onions and cut into fine cubes. Combine with cranberries, spices, sugar, peppercorns and herring. Pour the vinegar over the fish, cover and refrigerate for 3-4 days before serving.
