butter (for the pudding basins and the aluminium foil)

Preparation steps

1.
Grease the pudding basins and place 2 tbsp of jam into each one.
2.
Mix together the butter and the sugar until creamy and stir in the eggs one by one. Add the vanilla extract, baking powder, flour and the milk and stir into a smooth dough.
3.
Pour the mixture into the basins and spread evenly. Spread small pieces of aluminium foil with butter and use these to cover the basins, butter side in. (Use lids if you have them).
4.
Place a kitchen towel inside a pot and place the basins on top. Fill with boiling water halfway up the sides of the basins. Cover and steam for 1 hour. Knock out of the basins and serve.
