Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Butter an 8 1/2-inch loaf pan and dust with flour. Coarsely chop the figs and walnuts and transfer to a bowl along with the almonds, candied peel and raisins. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, star anise, coriander, cloves and salt. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter until creamy, beat in the honey. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Add the flour mixture and mix in with a spoon. Fold in the fruit and nut mixture.
