100 milliliters milk
200 grams Pastry flour
1 teaspoon ground Cardamom
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 tablespoon sunflower oil
neutral vegetable oil (for frying)
100 grams sugar (for dusting)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for dusting)

Preparation steps

1.

Heat the milk with about 200 ml of water until simmering. Combine the flour, baking powder and cardamom in a large bowl and stir in the warm milk mixture and the sunflower oil. Mix until a smooth dough is formed.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot. Test to make sure it's hot enough by dipping the handle of a wooden spoon into it. If small bubbles form, the oil is ready.

Form the dough into 12 rolls. Fold each roll in half and twist around itself. Carefully drop the dough twists into the hot oil and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish and toss the dough twists in it while still hot. Serve with warm chocolate sauce, if desired.
