150 milliliters milk
2 teaspoons Lemon peel
250 grams sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
4 egg yolks
12 sheets clear gelatin
500 grams Whipped cream
500 grams Quark
1 handful Chocolate candy
To decorate torte
1 packet Fondant (for coating)
1 handful small colorful Chocolate candy
butter (to grease pans)
Pastry flour (to dust pans)

Preparation steps

For the cake, preheat oven to 200°C (approximately 400 F). Grease springform pan with butter and dust with flour. Beat eggs with 125 g (approximately 1/2 cup) sugar until fluffy. Mix flour, cornstarch and baking powder, sift over egg mixture and fold in with a whisk. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth as necessary. Bake cake until golden brown, about 35 minutes, and let cool.

For the filling, mix milk, lemon zest, sugar and egg yolks in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat. Soften gelatin in cold water, squeeze and stir into milk mixture until dissolved. Refrigerate milk mixture until slightly set. Gradually stir quark into milk mixture and add lemon juice to taste. Beat cream until stiff and fold into filling mixture with chocolate-coated candies.

Cut cake in half horizontally and set bottom half back into pan. Line rim of pan with a wide strip of parchment paper. Spread filling over cake layer in pan and smooth top. Set top cake layer over filling and refrigerate cake for at least 2 hours.

Knead fondant until soft. Thinly roll out fondant between two sheets of plastic wrap. Cut a circle to cover top of cake and long strips to cover sides of cake. Remove cake from pan and set fondant pieces over cake. Press and smooth seams of fondant with moistened fingers to seal.

Gently press candies into fondant to decorate cake as desired.

Garnish cake with candles and silk ribbon as desired to serve.
