Preparation steps

1.

For the cookies, beat the butter, sugar, egg yolks, creme fraiche and lemon zest until creamy. Add the flour, cornstarch, 1 pinch of salt and baking powder and stir everything quickly, then knead into a smooth dough. Cover and chill for 2 hours in the refrigerator.

2.

Roll out the dough between 2 layers of plastic wrap, until about 3 mm thin. Cut out about 30 stars (about 7 and 5 cm; approximately 2 and 3 inches) and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. (On the smaller stars, cut out a mini-star in the center.)

3.

Bake in a preheated oven (200°C, approximately 400°F, center rack) 8 - 10 minutes, or until golden.

4.

Remove, let cool, then remove from the baking sheet. Spread some jam in the center of the large stars, then put the smaller stars with star hole on top. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
