500 grams Pastry flour
1 cube Yeast (42 grams or 1.5 ounces)
60 grams sugar
200 milliliters milk (lukewarm)
2 centiliters Fig liqueur
60 grams butter
2 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
200 grams dried Figs

Preparation steps

1.

Sift flour into a bowl and create a well in the center. Add yeast, 2 tablespoons sugar, milk and liqueur to well. Sprinkle pieces of butter onto flour. Cover bowl and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

Beat egg with remaining sugar and salt. Knead into dough to form a smooth dough. Add a little flour or milk if needed. Cover and let rise 30 minutes more.

Coarsely chop figs. Knead dough again and add figs. Shape into an oblong loaf and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Brush dough with water and bake until golden brown, about 45 minutes.

Remove, let cool, slice and serve.
