Preparation steps

1.

Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Crumble the yeast into the well.

2.

Pour in 3-4 tablespoons of lukewarm water and mix with a little flour. Cover and let rest about 15 minutes. Add the egg, butter and salt and knead to a smooth dough with 200 ml of warm water (approximately 7 ounces). Cover and let rest another 45 minutes.

3.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

4.

To fill: Crush the feta with a fork and mix with 75 grams of butter (approximately 2.5 ounces).

5.

Knead the dough on a floured work surface well and divide into 4 portions. Roll out each into a 3 mm thin circle (approximately 1/10 inch) and distribute some feta butter on it.

6.

Roll the breads and cut into pieces.

7.

Butter a baking dish.

8.

Pack the breads tightly into the buttered dish.

9.

Let rest again covered for about 30 minutes.

10.

Mix the egg yolks with the remaining butter and brush onto the breads.

11.

Bake about 40 minutes until golden brown.
