2 cups plain flour (sifted)
cup butter (diced)
1 Tbsp sugar
1 cup Ground meat
powdered sugar (to dust)

Preparation steps

Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and enough iced water to form a stiff dough. Wrap in tin foil or plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes. Heat the oven to 180C (160C fan) 375F, gas 5.

Roll out the dough on a floured board to a thickness of about 1/2 cm/1/4 ". Using pastry cutters, cut about 16 round bases and 16 stars.

Line greased patty pans with the pastry bases, spoon in a little mincemeat and top with a star.

Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden brown and serve with icing sugar dusted over.
