For the dough
100 grams butter
1 small can Saffron
450 grams Pastry flour
1 package Dry yeast
60 grams sugar
100 milliliters milk
2 eggs
For brushing
1 egg white
2 tablespoons milk

Preparation steps

For the dough: Melt butter, stir in saffron and let cool to room temperature. Combine flour and yeast in a mixing bowl. Stir sugar, milk and eggs into butter, then pour into flour and knead to form a dough. Add a bit of flour or milk, as needed.

Dust dough with flour and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until volume has doubled. Knead dough on a floured work surface, then divide into 3 portions. Roll each portion into a long strand, about 2 cm (approximately 3/4 inch) thick. Braid strands together, then shape into a wreath and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Press ends together and let rest for 20 minutes.

For brushing: Whisk together egg and milk. Brush onto dough and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Remove and let cool for about 35 minutes. Tear apart and serve.
