In the original version, the poffertjes are baked in a special poffertjes pan - but you can do without. Just take a large pan and bake the dough as described.

4 ounces Bread flour
1 teaspoon Dry yeast
2 tablespoons Raw cane sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 pinch salt
1 egg
12 ounces lukewarm milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting garnish)

1 Non-stick pan, 1 Mixing bowl, 1 Slotted spatula

Preparation steps

1.

Place both flours in a bowl with yeast, raw cane sugar, vanilla, salt, and egg. Stir with lukewarm milk until smooth to a liquid dough. Cover with a tea towel and leave to rise at room temperature for about 1 hour.

Heat a large pan and bake the poffertjes in it in portions. Heat a little butter in the pan, add a teaspoonful of small piles of dough and bake over a high heat for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Use the rest of the dough in the same way.

Dust Poffertjes with powdered sugar and enjoy.
