Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 160°C (approximately 325°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Coarsely chop the walnuts and toast in a dry skillet until fragrant. Sprinkle the nuts with sugar and continue cooking until the sugar has caramelized. Spread onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow to cool. Pit the dates and chop finely. Finely chop the cooled walnuts and mix with the dates.

Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff and glossy. Gently fold the dates and walnuts into the egg whites and spoon onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, remove from the oven, cool completely and serve.
