Combine flours and dry yeast. Heat milk until lukewarm and stir into flour mixture. Cover and let rest for 2 hours.
Combine salt, baking soda and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir into dough and let it rest for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a large pan and add metal rings. Add dough to each ring and cook for about 8-10 minutes, adjusting heat as needed. Remove rings and flip, cook for another 2-3 minutes, until both sides cooked evenly. Serve warm with butter and jam.
