for 20 waffles, approx.
- ½ cup
- 3 tablespoons
- 1 tablespoon
unwaxed Orange (juiced and zest taken from half)
- 1 ⅔ cups
- ½ teaspoon
- ⅞ cup
- Margarine (for the waffle iron)
- 4 tablespoons
- 2 tablespoons
Beat together the margarine, honey, vanilla sugar, orange zest and juice. Beat in the eggs and a pinch of salt. Mix through the flour and baking powder, alternating with the milk.
Heat a waffle iron (with an orange slice design, if desired).
Grease the waffle iron with a little margarine and add 1-2 tbsp batter per waffle. Fry the waffles in batches.
To serve, mix the icing sugar with the orange sugar and dust over the waffles. Best eaten when fresh and still warm. The waffles can also be packed in a sealed tin or box lined with grease-proof paper, to eat on the go.
