Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
Cream butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and lemon zest until smooth. Mix in flour, almonds and cranberries and knead into a slightly crumbly dough. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Gently form small bars (approximately 8 cm or about 3.5 inches in length). Place on baking sheet and bake about 15 minutes or until golden.
Let cool, then serve.
