Preparation steps

1.
For the cupcakes: heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Place paper cases in a 12 hole muffin tin.
2.
Beat the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and creamy.
3.
Add the milk and eggs gradually, beating well. Sift in the flour and baking powder and gently fold into the mixture.
4.
Spoon the mixture into the paper cases to half fill them. Place 2-3 raspberries on top of each and cover with the remaining mixture.
5.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden and springy to the touch. Cool in the tin for a few minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
6.
For the icing: sift the icing sugar into a bowl and gradually stir in the vanilla and enough hot water until thick and smooth.
7.
Divide the icing in half and colour one half yellow and the other half pink with a few drops of food colouring.
8.
Spread the icing on top of the cakes and decorate with small sweets, pressing them lightly into the icing. Leave to set.
