40 grams candied orange
125 grams butter
100 grams sugar
2 eggs
250 grams Pastry flour
½ tsp Baking powder
2 tsps grated Orange peel
2 Tbsps milk
4 Tbsps Coconut flakes
For the meringue
1 egg white
125 grams powdered sugar
1 heaping Tbsp cornstarch

Preparation steps

1.

Preheat oven to 160°C (approximately 325°F). Dice the candied orange peel very fine and along with butter, sugar, 1 egg, flour, baking powder and orange peel, knead to a smooth dough. Cover and place for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Roll the dough out until about 5 mm thick on a floured surface. Cut out stars and place on a lined baking tray. Separate the second and place the egg whites aside. Mix egg yolk with the milk, brush on cookies and sprinkle with coconut flakes.

For the meringue, beat 2 egg whites until stiff. Mix in the powdered sugar and cornstarch. Place the meringue into a pastry bag with a star and decorate the cookies with it. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove and cool.

Package in gift boxes if desired or serve.
