The eggs contained promote the child's development. The little ones can grow faster and better. Eggs also do us adults good. One contains slightly more than 30 percent of the daily recommended daily dose of vitamin A. We need this for healthy eyes.

What is lard pastry with us is churros in Spain, Portugal and South America. The difference: instead of a yeast dough, it is prepared from choux pastry. Typically it is served with a very thick drinking chocolate. For this, you melt dark chocolate over a water bath and serve it still warm with the choux pastry.

Preparation steps

1.

Add water and margarine to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Mix flour with cornstarch and pour into water. Stir into a lump and heat over medium heat until a white film has formed on the bottom of the saucepan. Add sugar and vanilla sugar and stir.

2.

Place dough in a bowl and stir in 1 egg. Mix with the dough hook of an electric hand mixer. Cool slightly and gradually add remaining eggs, kneading until dough is glossy. Stir in baking soda.

3.

Heat oil to 175°C (approximately 350°F). Add dough to a piping bag with a large spout and pipe crescent shapes onto a sheet of parchment paper. Carefully slide crescents into oil and fry until golden brown.

4.

Remove crescents with a slotted spoon. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and dip hot crescents into mixture. Serve immediately.
