Ingredients

For the cake base
1 Baking mix (chocolate cake)
4 Eggs
125 grams soft Butter
3 tablespoons Milk
250 milliliters Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
For the filling
8 sheets Gelatin
250 milliliters Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
80 grams Powdered sugar
¼ liter Sparkling wine
1 tablespoon Orange liqueur
400 grams Whipping cream
2 tablespoons Orange marmalade (warmed)
For decoration
4 large Oranges
150 grams Sugar

Preparation steps

For the cake base, preheat the oven to 175°C (approximately 350°F). Grease a springform pan (26 cm diameter) (approximately 10-inch diameter). Add baking mix to a bowl. Add eggs, butter and milk amd mix to a smooth dough. Then stir in the chocolate chips, pour mixture into the springform pan and bake about 30 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool and remove from the pan.

For the filling, soak the gelatin in plenty of cold water. Mix 1/4 liter (approximately 1 cup) of orange juice with powdered sugar in a saucepan, heat to dissolve sugar, remove from heat and dissolve the squeezed out gelatin in it. Stir in sparkling wine and orange liqueur and refrigerate until the mixture starts to gel. Whip the cream and gradually stir the orange-wine mixture into the cream. Brush the cooled cake with 1/4 liter (approximately 1 cup) orange juice and brush with the warmed marmalade. Place a cake ring around the cake base and spread the filling on top. Refrigerate cake overnight.

For decoration, peel oranges, cut into 2 mm thick slices. Simmer sugar in a pot with 250 ml (approximately 1 cup) water while stirring, about 1 minute. Add orange slices and remove from heat. Let soak 20 minutes. Remove, drain and let cool. Decorate the cake with orange slices and serve.
