Chocolate Fig Cake
Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
Grease a baking dish with butter and dust with flour. Melt the butter. Separate the eggs and place in separate mixing bowls.
Add the sugar to the egg yolks and whisk over a hot water bath until foamy. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder and grated chocolate then stir in the lukewarm butter. Chop the figs finely and stir into the batter.
Whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff and carefully fold in. Transfer to the prepared pan and bake for about 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
