1 kilogram sugar

Preparation steps

Boil the sugar with 1 liter (approximately 4.25 cups) of water. Simmer for about 5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved. Let cool until lukewarm.

Rinse the oranges in hot water and pat dry. Cut into 3-4 mm thin slices. Lay the orange slices on a baking sheet and cover with the syrup. Let sit for about 12 hours. Drain the syrup into a pan and bring back up to a boil. Cool slightly and pour back over the oranges. Let sit for another 12 hours. Drain the oranges on a wire rack. Allow to dry for 1-2 days.

Chop the chocolate and melt over a hot water bath. Remove from the heat and immerse each orange slice halfway. Place on parchment paper and let dry before serving.
