Ingredients
for
1
- Ingredients
- butter (for the tin)
- flour (for the tin)
- ¾ cup butter (room temperature)
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 2.333 cups flour
- ⅜ cup milk
- 0.333 cup ground almonds
- 4 cups Plum (pitted and halved)
- powdered sugar
Preparation steps
1.
Heat the oven to 180°C (160°C in a fan oven), 350°F, gas 4 and grease baking tin with butter and dust it with flour.
2.
Beat the butter until creamy. Alternatively add the sugar and the eggs and add a pinch of salt.
3.
Mix together the baking powder, cocoa and the flour, add to the sugar-butter mixture and gradually stir in the milk until a smooth, spreadable mixture is formed. Pour the mixture into the baking tin and spread smoothly. Sprinkle the almonds on top.
4.
Arrange the plums on top of the mixture and bake for around 50 minutes. Test with a wooden stick. If the cake gets to dark, cover it with aluminium foil.
5.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool. Remove the cake from the tin and serve dusted with icing sugar.
