Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Grease a springform pan with butter.

Rinse the cherries, drain and remove the pits. In a pot, caramelize the sugar, add the cherries, deglaze with red wine and simmer over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. For the cake batter, pour all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and process with an electric hand mixer to make a smooth batter. Spread the cherries on the bottom of the springform pan, pour the batter over the cherries and smooth. Bake until golden brown in the preheated oven, 35-40 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick. Remove the finished cake from the oven, allow to cool briefly and turn out onto a cake plate. Serve slices on cake plates.
