Rinse cherries and drain. Reserve some cherries for garnish and pit the rest. Halve or quarter cherries as desired.
Boil wine with sugar. Add cherries and continue to boil.
Add cornstarch and a little water, stir into cherries until smooth and boil again. Remove from heat, stir in the Maraschino liqueur and let cool.
Serve in bowls garnished with remaining cherries and mint leaves.
