Combine eggs, sugar and vanilla and beat until fluffy with an electric mixer. Combine flour, salt, baking powder and add to egg mixture. Add milk and mix everything well. Refrigerate batter for 30 minutes. Rinse and pit cherries.
Place 1/3 of batter in the baking pan and top with cherries. Spread remaining batter and bake in preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve.
