Preparation steps

1.

For the dough: Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Drain cherries well.

Put butter in pieces in a mixing bowl, stir in sugar and salt until creamy. stir in eggs, one by one. Combine flour and baking powder in another bowl and stir into butter mixture. Dough should be smooth and spreadable, add a little more milk if needed.  

Place half of the dough on the baking sheet and smooth. Top with cherries. Add cocoa powder to remaining dough and stir in rum. Pour over cherries and spread. Bake for 35-40 minutes, remove and allow to cool on baking sheet.

For the cream: Combine pudding mix and milk according to package instructions, let cool.

Beat butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Stir into pudding and spread mixture onto cooled cake.

Cut chocolate into pieces melt over a double boiler. pour over the cake and create waves on the cake with a serrated dough scraper. Let cool.

Dust with cocoa, slice and serve.
