Beat the butter with 100 grams (approximately 1/2 cup) of sugar, the egg and lemon zest until light and fluffy.
Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt and mix until well combined.
Coarsely crush the hard candies and fold into the dough. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Scoop the dough by the teaspoonful and roll into balls. Dip in the remaining sugar, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and press lightly to flatten.
Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. Store the cookies in an airtight container.
