600 grams sugar
70 milliliters water
1 teaspoon red Food coloring
2 teaspoons Vinegar
6 Food-safe craft sticks (for skewering)

Preparation steps

1.

Rinse apples and pat dry. Remove stems and insert a wooden stick into each apple.

Pour about 50 grams (approximately 1-3/4 ounces) of sugar evenly onto a flat plate.

Boil sugar, water, food coloring and vinegar in a heavy saucepan and let boil until a sugar thermometer reads 150°C (approximately 300°F).

Pull pan from the heat immediately. Immerse apples one at a time, rotate and turn until they are completely covered by the syrup, dip into the sugar sprinkled on the plate and let cool. Once hardened, serve.
