Rinse the figs thoroughly, and prick with a knife several times. Fill the prepared screw-top jar with the figs, brandy and sugar. Make sure that everything is well covered. Place in a bright, warm place like a window sill ofr 1-2 weeks. Shake the jar strongly once a day.
Divide the figs and the alcohol into 3-4 bottles. Fill with the calvados and seal tightly. Label the bottle, and give as a gift.
