Baked Apples with Meringue Topping
Peel, quarter and remove cores from apples. Toss apples with sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon. Let stand 15 minutes. Beat egg whites and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
Divide apples among four ovenproof ramekins. Sprinkle with Calvados. Top with meringue and sprinkle with almonds. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) until meringue is golden, about 20 minutes.
