Baden Carnival Pastries
Melt the butter over low heat. Beat the eggs and the egg yolks with the cooled, liquid butter. Add the kirsch and flour and knead into a smooth dough. Divide the dough and wrap in plastic and chill for 60 minutes. Roll on a floured surface to a 3 cm (approximately 1 1/2 inch) rolls and cut into 2 cm (approximately 1 inch) thick slices.
Roll the slices as thin as possible with a rolling pin. Heat the butter int a deep fryer or saucepan. It is hot enough if bubbles form when a wooden spoon is inserted. Cook the slices until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
