Preparation steps

1.

For the dough, mix flour with salt in a bowl. Create a well in center. Combine 3 tablespoons of oil with 125 ml (approximately 8 tablespoons) and pour into well. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough. Roll into a ball, sprinkle with remaining oil, wrap in plastic wrap and let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2.

For the filling, peel apples, quarter, remove cores and cut into thin slices. Mix apple slices with raisins, sugar, cinnamon and cream.

3.

Melt the butter. Roll dough out on a floured cloth and then gently pull dough to thin. Brush with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Spread apple mixture on top and sprinkle with nuts. Using the cloth, roll into a strudel. Place seam side down on a buttered baking sheet. Brush with milk and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (approximately 400°F) for about 40 minutes. Remove and cool slightly. To serve, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into slices. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.
