Preparation steps

1.

For the crust, combine flour and baking powder. Cut butter into pieces. Combine butter, sugar, egg and milk with flour mixture and mix with a food processor to form a smooth dough. Shape dough into ball, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate about 30 minutes.

2.

Rinse cherries and remove stems and pits. Peel and quarter apples, remove cores, chop and immediately toss with lemon juice. Mix cornstarch with 4 tablespoons cherry juice. Heat remaining cherry juice with sugar and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil while stirring. Add cherries and apples to juice mixture, return to boil and remove from heat. Remove cinnamon stick and stir almond liqueur into fruit mixture.

3.

For the streusel topping, melt butter and allow to cool. Add flour, almonds and sugar to the butter and mix until coarse crumbs form.

4.

Roll out crust dough on a floured surface and place in a greased baking pan. Pour fruit mixture over crust and sprinkle streusel crumbs over fruit. Bake about 40 minutes in oven preheated to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
