The following remedies for healthy hair will convince you to switch to homemade treatments instead of constantly buying expensive hair products.

Egg Yolk Treatment

Simply massage 3 yolks on your scalp and leave it for 10 minutes. You could also add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of vitamin E to make your hair even more smooth and shiny. To remove, wash hair with shampoo. The end result will be soft hair, as the egg has a conditioning effect and provides lots of protein. Hair consists mostly of protein and egg is a great way to provide an extra protein boost.

Beer Treatment

Rinse your hair with a little bottle of beer and shampoo hair lightly. Pour beer into a spray bottle and when your hair is towel dry, lightly spray beer onto your hair. Fans of this treatment believe that beer makes your hair shiny.

Olive Oil Treatment

Use 4 tablespoons olive oil and massage it into scalp and hair. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly. You can also leave it overnight to have an even more intense effect. The olive oil is said to prevent breakage, strengthen and moisten your hair.1

Avocado Treatment

Mash one ripe avocado with one egg and apply to wet hair. Leave for at least 20 minutes and rinse several times to remove. This treatment can be repeated once a week to strengthen hair and reduce damage. Avocado is rich in vitamins and fatty acids that make your hair strong and shiny.

Tea Treatment

Rinse your hair with warm, unsweetened tea and wash with shampoo afterward. Tea is beneficial to hair color and shine. Blondes should use chamomile tea as it fits their hair color best. Black tea can have a darkening effect and is better for use on brunette hair.2

Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment

Combine 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons olive oil and three egg whites. Rub mixture into your hair and cover hair with plastic wrap or a shower wrap. Allow to take effect for 30 minutes then shampoo and rinse. This treatment is supposed to bring life back into your damaged and weak hair. Apple cider vinegar is also said to cleanse your scalp and maintains the pH balance in your hair which is beneficial for its growth.

Sandalwood Treatment

Mix a few drops of sandalwood oil with a few drops of olive oil or jojoba oil, rub mixture between hands and apply on ends of your hair. It will give your hair instant sleekness and is said to support brittle hair.

Yogurt Treatment

Using plain yogurt, apply it directly on your scalp and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and enjoy your freshly moisturized hair.

With an overwhelming number of products currently available that tout a variety of healthy hair benefits, it may come as a surprise that you can make your own effective hair remedies from items found in your kitchen. These products will help you save money and are great for the environment as there are no harsh chemicals or wasteful packaging.
