Frozen low-fat yogurt, plain or mixed with fresh fruit, is the perfect dessert for figure-conscious foodies. The frozen yogurt trend started here many years ago and it’s no wonder that you can find it on almost ever corner nowadays. With how low in calories it is it makes sense that all our favorite Hollywood celebrities have been raving about it for years as well. After all frozen yogurt is the smart version of ice cream.

Frozen Yogurt: Refreshing And Good For Your Figure

Frozen yogurt is made by stirring slightly sweetened yogurt until smooth and then freezing it. Fatty substances such as cream, milk, eggs or butter that are found in conventional ice cream are generally not used. Instead frozen yogurt contains valuable calcium and healthy probiotics that can regulate your digestion and boost your immune system.

Frozen Yogurt: Less Calories Than Ice Cream

In general, plain frozen yogurt has only 20% of the calories as ice cream does. Frozen yogurt is not only lighter than ice cream, but also more refreshing in the summer due to its slightly tart taste.

DIY Frozen Yogurt

Of course, the best variety is the homemade kind. This way you know exactly what went into the frozen yogurt. For those of you who want to try making frozen yogurt yourself, simply mix skimmed yogurt with a little sugar and optionally add puréed fruit. Freeze it in a bowl inside the freezer and stir it every 2 hours until the desired consistency is reached.
